Things to Do in LA this August

As the summer winds down, we- record scratch- freeze frame- what?! Winds down? We’re halfway through the summer, and August is *just around the corner.* We’re partial to August over here at Bikes and Hikes LA; this author, in particular, has an August birthday, and maintains that it is THE BEST month, for many reasons- it’s calmer than July, the pressure’s off to have the best fourth of July ever, everyone travels, and end of summer nostalgia creeps in- the idea that fall is just around the corner, festivities are winding down, a back to school season, etc.; there’s a certain je ne sais quoi about August, a sense of imminent denouement that allows everyone to slow down, cherish the moment, and make some beautiful memories as we head off into the sunset.

*Larry David moment* “Having said that….”

There are SO MANY THINGS TO DO IN LA IN AUGUST! Read on to pick and choose your own Los Angeles Adventure…and if you need some inspiration, give the Bikes and Hikes LA office a call- we’ll brainstorm the perfect summer day in LA with you!

Get OUTSIDE

If you’ve been reading our blog for a while…if you’ve ever come to visit our site, you know that we’re passionate about the outdoors at Bikes and Hikes LA. Getting outdoors is in our blood, and our entire mission is about getting you out of your cars and into the fresh air of beautiful Los Angeles. We’re so excited that tourism is making a return, and our priority is to continue to create safe experiences for you and your loved ones. While we’re not quite out of the pandemic yet, we’re working diligently over here to continue to ensure that your LA tour is safe and FUN. Our staff are all fully vaccinated, our tours are all outdoors, and our entire business model of outdoor tourism has allowed us to be naturally socially distanced…for the past decade! We have SO MANY tours to offer, and they’re all outdoors. Check out all of our safe LA tours here.

Take a Quick Hike

Is it hot in here? This historic summer heatwave, am I right? Yeah…it’s pretty hot in LA this summer. If the heat isn’t your cup of tea, but you’re still looking for a way to get your steps in and burn some calories…quickly…may we interest you in our ALL NEW *Official* Hollywood Sign EXPRESS Hike? (Is that enough of a jazzy intro for you?) We launched the Express Hike, our latest Hollywood Sign Hike this summer. It’s a take on our OFFICIAL Hollywood Sign Hike with a twist- rather than hiking for 2.5 hours, it’s a quick 1.5 hour hike that STILL packs in all of the highlights, a great workout, and infinite perfect Hollywood Sign photos. You’ll meet up with your hiking guide on the trail, take all the pictures you want, enjoy a quick hike, and then head off to whatever fun things you have planned for the rest of the day. Boom. Easy Peasy! Sound cool (literally) to you? Book your Hollywood Sign Express Hike here. (Of course, if a longer hike tour IS what you’re looking for, book our Original Hollywood Sign Hike here.)

Go for a Beachy Bike Ride

The ENTIRE state of California is a beach. Let that sink in. There are 840 miles of pure coastline in California. This state is a living, breathing beach! Los Angeles is no exception, and we have a pretty sweet swath of beaches for your swimming, walking, rollerblading, and biking pleasure. One of the best treats you can give yourself is to book yourself a beach bike ride, and cruise down (or up) the California coast. Bikes and Hikes LA has the best LA beach bike rides from which to choose, including our famous LA in a Day Bike Tour, our private Venice and Santa Monica Beach Bike Tour, our Malibu Mountain Bike Tour, our Bikes and Bites Food Bike Tour, and more! Make sure to pack your sunscreen and get ready to soak up that sun. Book your beach bike tours here.

Finally…at Bikes and Hikes LA, we’re particularly proud of not only surviving as a small business in the tourism sphere, but the fact that our tours remain a SAFE activity to enjoy as we navigate this phase of the pandemic. While many other tour businesses have been forced to shutter operations, we’ve adapted with the times, and continue to offer COVID-safe tours, update our COVID policies, and have our ears open for feedback as to how we can make our tours even more safe and more enjoyable for you and your loved ones. For a peak luxury experience, book any of our daily tours as a private tour for your VIP – Very Important Pod! Take a private bike or hike tour with your family.
