Due to a cancellation I was the only person on the hike and Jason was the ultimate host. His knowledge of the area and the history was really interesting. The scenery was amazing and I had a great time. It was great exercise.
My husband and three kids (ages 15, 11,11) took a day long private tour. Eric was their guide. I was a little worried about a bike tour in such a car oriented city but all of them felt very safe. Their comments: “He knew so much about their city!” “He quickly understood what we wanted to learn more about and what we did not want to hear.” “He knew the route soooo well.” All I know is that after a full day of biking all 3 kids were very cheerful and kept of telling me everything they saw and everything they learned about LA. Thank you Eric!!
Our guide ErIc did an amazing and entertaining tour of the Hollywood Hills! I am 63 and my spouse is 69 and we had no problem hiking with the group. We regularly walk on a treadmill so we are somewhat in good shape. But Eric was always asking how we were doing and we always made rest stops to look at the view, and his photos and videos that he brought along to enhance the stories he told us of Griffith Park. Eric is so entertaining! And he stopped at all the best places for picture taking! We did the 3 pm hike and were able to watch the beautiful sunset over the ocean! We toured the beautiful Griffith Observatory at night! LA is so amazing from the hills at night! DON’T MISS THIS! It will be lifelong cherished memory!!!
My husband and I did the Hollywood Hills Sunset Hike, and our guide was Eric. It was a small, intimate group, just 4 of us including Eric. The hike is easy physically (slow climb) and Eric checked in with us frequently to make sure none of us were too tired/needed a break. Eric was a great guide! He provided us with an entertaining history of LA and even had photos and videos to share. The views you get from this hike are beautiful. We actually went to the Griffith Observatory (one of the stops) on our own before the hike started and got a view of the city during the day and at night when we stopped by with Eric. At the end of the hike, we also chatted about his local experience of living in LA and he shared some stories and local recommendations of places to go and things to eat (which we took, and don’t regret). We also randomly bumped into him a few days later at a restaurant and he made sure to say hi! Will definitely be recommending to others.
On New Year’s Day my husband and married children took a hike into Griffith Park – all the way up past the Hollywood sign. my “kids” live and work in LA so we are always looking for new things to do when we go to visit. And I could not have picked a better activity. Our guide was Erick and he was fabulous. There were just 4 of us in the group and my kids are very athletic, but at 65 and 67 years of age – that was not the case for my husband and myself. Erick made this almost 6 mile hike perfect for all of us. He was sensitive to our abilities which was great and entertained us all with wonderful stories about the area and exactly what we were seeing. On a day when so much was closed – taking this hike was the ideal thing to do. I would recommend the company – and Erick in particular – to anyone willing to take a few hours for an experience they won’t forget. It was TERRIFIC!
We did a new years eve tour with Brian and had an absolutely excellent tour. Brian was very knowledgeable, he cycled at a comfortable speed and equipped everyone to enjoy the tour immensely. On a tour such as this, the guide is important and he was a great one.
Had a fantastic day. Our guide Stephen paced the walk to suit all in the tour party. He took the time to point out various point of interest through out the walk. He went the extra yard by taking us through the Griffith Observatory. Would recommend this walk to everyone.
I did this hike with Eric, who was a fantastic guide and a true professional. He imparted a lot of fascinating information about various aspects of LA and of the area we hiked in, was always checking we weren’t going too fast and were well hydrated and made sure we got a proper look (and good photo opportunities). His passion and enthusiasm are infectious. This is definitely a must do in LA.
We thoroughly enjoyed our hike to view the LA skyline and see the Hollywood sign. Erick M. was our knowledgable guide who expertly showed us the way and filled our heads with stories about the history of LA and Griffith Park. He’s awesome- it’s a must do experience!!
I took the 3-1/2 hour Hollywood bike tour and it was great fun. Eric and Nate were terrific guides – knowledgeable, fun and energetic. They came prepared with everything we might need including sunblock and snack bars! Eric was a storehouse of great anecdotes about LA’s early history. I look forward to taking another tour with them on my next trip to LA.
Felt totally safe and watched over by JS. Decided not to do the typical Hollywood bus tour. 1st time in LA and knew that we didn’t want to get stuck in traffic on a bus. We had wonderful, informative tour. It was a breezy sunny day and we got on and off our bikes to look at different sights. Good exercise so you can eat whatever you want at night!
Family of four (two girls 11 & 13) 4 hour bike tour with Eric around Hollywood was great. 15.86 miles seeing all the cool sights with a great tour guide who was full of local knowledge. Even got to meet cast members (Bella, Troy, and Newt) from Nickelodeon’s Bella and the Bulldogs. Would highly recommend this for any active family that wants to learn and see Hollywood.
I did my third tour with Bikes and Hikes LA earlier this month and enjoyed it as much as I did the first and second time. Again, the tour was fantastic and it was the highlight of our LA stay. The L.A. in a Day Bike Tour is the best way to start your stay in Los Angeles if you wish to orientate yourself. But also when you’re a repeater (like I am) I cannot recommend this tour enough! So it is basically for everyone! It is so much more fun to see the city from a bike than from a car and you have a very informative guide with you who is really knowable about the city. You can only go wrong if you don’t call them for a tour the next time you visit Los Angeles!!! The best and most fun way to see the city!!
Easily the best thing we’ve done in LA…let alone any of our travels.
The ultimate way to see LA! Our guides Eric W and Ben were excellent…patient and knowledgable. The lunch was amazing and only $10.
I don’t think there is honestly another way to see as much as LA as this.
Do yourself a favor and book this in when you’re in LA. Beware though, a moderate to high level of fitness is required in my opinion…definitely not for anyone with major health problems or injuries.
We decided to adventure out and book the LA in A Day tour…This is the only way to see LA. There are so many things to see that you would miss in a car or on a bus tour. The guides stop and give you a complete history. Eric was just fantastic. Our group was not large so it is very personalized. The Mansion Tour was fascinating. Venice Beach amazing. Lunch perfect. Very much recommend.
