LA Tours. LA Tours. LA Tours.
Hey Bikers/Readers—Bill here…
As if there was ever any question: Hollywood stars love bikes. So much so that there’s a new book published on exactly that subject. Written by film critic Steven Rea, the book features classic movie stars doing what stars do best—looking fabulous with their favorite two, or sometimes even three wheel transports. Ride features a who’s who of classic movie stars from Shirley Temple and Elizabeth Taylor to Bogie himself all touring Hollywood and the studios on their bikes. You’ll even see some classic movie duos like Barbra Streisand and Ryan O’Neal (aka Howard Bannister to What’s Up Doc fans) and James Stewart and Grace Kelly collectively pushing pedals. Ken Tucker of Entertainment Weekly (where your’s truly used to work many moons ago) just reviewed the book in a recent issue of EW. He proclaims: ”Who knew that so many stars have been gaga for bicycles?!”
Angel City Press, Hollywood Rides a Bike publisher, perhaps describes the book best: “these photos of film folks on spokes are sure to be treasured by fans of all ages, genders and persuasions. Already the leader of the bike pack online with his universally recognized Rides a Bike blog on Tumblr, Rea has preserved the best in Hollywood’s documented cyclology in these pages, never to be lost in cyberspace.”
